So I decided on the spur of the moment (aided by some Buffalo Trace bourbon) to take this blog public.
I’ve been hesitant to do it, I guess because I feel like it might be a commitment I can’t fulfill. It makes the whole FAR System somehow more real — which I do want it to be — but there’s a lot less pressure involved when it’s only me and my family that know about it.
On the other hand, I’m pushing this little boat out into an ocean that’s positively teeming with ships big and small, and the odds are nobody will notice it for quite a while anyway. No risk, and only rewards to come.
On an unrelated note, I found out that there’s already a tabletop game out there calling itself Far West (they’ve got a great thing going; check it out). Our approaches are very different and it doesn’t look like the name is trademarked (probably not actually trademarkable), so probably no real issues, but still…dammit. For now I’ve made the small change of calling this thing FAR Western to differentiate it at least a little bit.
So The FAR System website/blog and FAR Western are out there now. For whatever that’s worth.
And just what is “whatever” worth? To start with, a minimum of one blog post/site update per week. (Preferably two, but I know my limits.)
